Something Spotted…

At approx 22.05, 02/06/03, I was in the garden, when I noticed a bright light. at first I thought it was a star, but then I saw it was getting closer, rather fast ! it had no sound, or flashing lights, so was not a plane or helicopter. it also seemed to be swaying, zig-zagging. it came from the north west direction, and headed south east, towards Southampton / Isle of Wight. It was moving too fast to be any sort of plane. we are from the Ringwood area. was it imagination, or did anyone else see anything?

(I have just received this report today the 3rd June 2003. If anyone has had such a similar sighting reported to them, please let me know… Steve Gerrard (Editor).

9th June 2003 :

Just to liven up an already lively day Eastleigh SUFOG member Lorraine phoned in and a long conversation ensued! Monday 9th June Lorraine was taking the washing in at around 2.30 p.m. and saw a plane coming into Southampton airport...above it, she saw a silvery colour disc, flying a straight path towards the south.. in the direction of the Isle of Wight. It was in view roughly four seconds.

On Wednesday the 12th June at 3.00 p.m. she was sitting in her garden idly watching swallows darting about and noticed a black "dot"...not an aircraft as no wings or tail...heading east to west. It was below the clouds and moving in in an erratic manner.. like a falling leaf but level flight,. Sighting forms are being dispatched to Lorraine who regrets not being able to attend meetings as she has no form of transport. Willing to pay petrol shares if anyone can help. Very keen and has a number of dramatic sightings in the past years.

SUFOG's own Karl Spencer-Smith had two more sightings of those red\orange" globes.. one was in fact a pair in tandem.. our Steve has the full details. which I passed onto him.

Another sightings reported to SUFOG.

Date : 13th June 2003 Ref : SG/11/03

Location : Littlehampton, West Sussex

SUFOG Member in back garden at home at 00.12hrs (Friday 13th !!) Saw a bright ‘Star’ (But 3 to 4 times brighter), moving slowly across the clear night sky from South to East. The object was intense and very bright and no sound could be heard. He watched it for about 10 minutes (also managed to grab his camera and take a photo) and the light disappeared as if someone had turned a light switch off.

SUFOG CASE REPORT : SG/21/03

Date : 3rd August 2003 Ref : SG/21/03

Location : Car Park at Knapp Hill, Wiltshire Time : 02:10hrs

Witnesses : Steve Gerrard, Steve Rider, Mark Hilton and female by the name of Jacqueline.

Whilst on the annual SUFOG group skywatch, we had a wonderfully clear sky and suddenly this very bright blue/white (The size of a pea) appeared in the sky and stood out from anything else in the sky. It moved upwards and started to fade slightly getting smaller and smaller (As if going out into deep space) until it was a faint point of white light and suddenly, it disappeared.

(Unable to come up with a rational explanation, but certainly this was a phenomenon witnessed by 4 independent people who had not touched a drop of alcohol… Steve Gerrard).

CIRCULAR OBJECT WITH RING OF LIGHTS SEEN FLYING

Two friends were sitting in their back garden at 9:35 PM, on August 24, 2003. when they both noticed a circle shaped object traveling southwest across the sky. A series of lights arranged in a circle was flying as fast as a normal plane and was fairly high. It disappeared over the clouds. I thought I could hear the drone of a distant engine although my friend said it was silent. We watched it until it went out of view, heading across the English Channel.

23rd November 2003 :

A close and therefore trusted friend was having a break from her hospital night shift at 3.05 a.m. in late November 2003, and having a smoke outside looking out over the Hampshire countryside on the Southampton outskirts was startled to see a ‘huge’ very bright object passing quickly over the sky before her, quite low down and apparently descending behind houses to the west. She assumed, she later related, it was a meteor. It is true, as I investigated, a meteor shower was forecast around then but was puzzled slightly by its alleged ‘descent’. However, a week later, in the same location but coming off her shift about 7.15 a.m. she was attracted to a bright “star” very high up to the north. It suddenly moved from a standing start and began a series of manoeuvres that took it all four corners of the night sky before it vanished from it’s original point up into the night sky… all at very fast speed and soundless. I logged this one as “unidentified”! At our UFO group January meeting the subject came up and someone suggested maybe “IT” performing for the witnesses benefit! Coincidently, the witness in fact is a serial witness of such things and much much more going back to childhood and including a mystery pregnancy etc. It wasn’t too long after we first met some 5 years ago that she began to talk to me about weird ’dreams’ etc that I was able to show her from my vast library and my own experiences where the TRUTH lay. She was, not surprisingly, shocked! The more she confided in me the more amazed I was!

Portsmouth News 28th April 2004…

Investigator set to probe suspected

UFO activity.

UFO enthusiasts have today vowed to investigate unexplained objects sighted over Portsmouth.

John of Stamshaw, was one of six people to see an unusual object in the sky above Portsdown Hill on Sunday.

He told The News, ’I witnessed a very long and thin pencil-like object drift across the sky over Portsdown Hill at about 3 p.m.

’It appeared black and had no visible markings. It was shortly followed by two small spotter-type planes.’

The police have no record of the sightings and navy spokesman, based at Portsmouth Naval Base said there were no navy flights at those times.

Now Southern Paranormal Investigations Group led by Bob Schindler is to look into their claims.

Married father-of-five, Mr. Schindler, said : ‘If the object was pencil-shaped and they were looking at it from a different angle it could have been triangle shaped.

Same UFO Seen 30 Minutes earlier..

When we thought that the UFO scene was quiet… Only 30 minutes earlier possibly the same object as seen over Portsdown Hill, was seen 200 miles away in Nottingham. In Omar Fowlers magazine OVNI, it carries photographs of an object photographed high in the sky over Nottingham. The object was first seen at 2.30 p.m. and photographed as it glided through the sky changing shape. Eventually, it was lost in the clouds. At 2.50 p.m. Then if by magazine, the same shaped object was sighted over Portsdown Hill in Hampshire at 3 p.m.. Coincidence ? Possibly, the same object ?.. Possible, a hoax ?.. Possibly..

Some has suggested that possibly it was large, elongated balloons launched from an airfield in Southern France. These so called ‘balloons’ are available on the open market and they are available on the open market or through the internet. So, was the sighting in Nottingham and the sighting in Portsmouth (200 miles apart) these extra-large, helium filled balloons can float for miles and therefore if two were launched together in France, both the wind directions in both sightings was from the SE/NE then it is a good possibility that we are looking at just two extra large balloons… But if not?

13th June 2005 : Southampton :

Time : 15:00 hrs

Location : Southampton (UK/England)

Shape : Cylinder

Duration : 20 Minutes

Silver grey tube shaped object spotted in skies over Southampton, Hampshire. One object sighted comprising a long cylindrical tube, silver grey in colour, moving slowly across the sky. The object turned vertically and climbed before returning to a horizontal position. It then turned again and climbed through light cloud cover and eventually disappeared from view. It was a clear day and we managed to capture the object on film, circa 5 shots, with a digital camera

UFO Report - 24th July 2004.

At about 1:05 this morning, from my top floor window, I saw a UFO and it looked like it was hovering over the Fawley oil refinery. My house is high up, not too far from the shore at Warsash and the refinery is right across the water. This 'craft' wasn't the typical saucer shape, but it was really well lit up....by its own lights and I guess from the refinery. Have you had any other reports about this craft in the night?

I've made sketches of what I saw. I did attempt to get it on video, but when I returned from fetching the camera the craft had gone. It was such an amazing craft that I decided to get in the car and drive to the shore to see if it had just moved to a different area, that wasn't in my view from the house, but I couldn't see it.

Back in October 1998 I had another sighting between the Southampton Airport and Sainsbury's at Hedge End. Again, I've got a sketch of what I saw at about 4:20 that morning. That craft was 'more' of a saucer shape.

Last summer I saw a flyer for the Southampton UFO Group at the food hut on the beach in Hamble and thought I must tell you about my 1998 sighting to see if others had seen it. Now with last nights events it's prompted me to get in touch.

I'd be more than happy to tell you more about these two sightings and show you the sketches.

UFO Seen over Sholing, Southampton..

ANDOVER 12th September 2004..

--I was letting my dog out early Sunday morning September 12, 2004, about 5 AM, when it was just getting light. I first noticed what looked like a satellite going east to west but there were 2 side by side. Then going west to east came a rapidly flashing  red and white light. Then moved slowly and silently, at about 500m altitude. As this pair crossed the sky another came into view directly underneath the first at about 200m altitude, moving the same speed, in formation. This pair drifted past followed by another three sets of pairs all going the same direction. The strange thing was that I could see the lights flashing down the side of the craft and on the back could be seen two fixed lights that may have been exhausts? The objects themselves were invisible.

Monday the 18th October

Saw Southampton UFO Group member walking up Eastleigh Market Street around 2.30 p.m. with her mother. Her attention was caught by an unusual object proceeding quite low down across the clear blue sky. Since Southampton airport is right on the edge of Eastleigh she is used to planes coming in low and noisy, this object, which she could only describe as "tubular", was certainly no plane that she recognised. It vanished behind shops and she waited for it to re-appear. I didn’t! Size at arms length between an 5p and 20p. Unidentified!

Tuesday the 19th October a very unusual object was reported over Southampton by no less than six people.. report by SUFOG member who supplied the report and interesting drawing of the object which came from Southampton Docks and passed over Merryoak and Bitterne very low and at a low speed. No sound, and was described by one witness as like a "Ferris Wheel!" revolving slowly, and having several holes around it's perimeter where the sky showed through… these were rotating faster than the rest of the object. 2 photographs were taken.… not developed although we expect to have them at our 15th December SUFOG meeting. Time 8.30 p.m. Duration 15 minutes.

Tuesday 20th October over Portsdown Hill, Portsmouth…a known UFO hotspot for many years.… time 8.30 p.m., the witness was driving over the hill heading West, and had a clear view over Portsmouth, Hayling Island, Langstone Harbour, etc. Noticed a light, or flare, assumed it was a firework. It was coming closer and didn’t go out, and thoughts of a local helicopter vanished as the light became much brighter.. witness had pulled in by then and was now filming! The light appeared to go on and off very abruptly and finally went out altogether. Witness returned to his car and drove off. I have a photo of the object which shows a strange looping effect which witness suggests might have been due to camera motion blur? SUFOG has seen a further sighting and photograph of what looks like one of those "chem trails". We are awaiting a copy (See page 20 of newsletter). Witness stated "trail" appeared but with no sight or sound of aircraft. It stayed intact, cut off at each end, for quite some time. All this over and around the Southampton-Portsmouth area…

UFO Report : Portsdown Hill, Portsmouth…

Date : 20th October 2004.

I was driving on the Portsdown Hill Rd (B2177), heading west, a little way past Fort Purbrook where you have a clear view over the Portsmouth, Hayling Island and Langstone Harbour. I noticed the light and assumed it was a fire work or flare, as it had a similar luminosity. When it didn't go out, and appeared to be coming closer, I thought it to be a helicopter, as is was flying low, and was becoming very, very bright. Curious, I pulled in and started filming (luckily I had my camera in the car!)

When I am zoomed in on the object, it appears to display some irregular movement, although I can't say that that was not down to my shaky hand! It also seems to have a subtle strobe effect to it; one particular part of the clip shows a distinct very rapid pulsing of the light, with the effect that the lens flare the light is causing creates a fluctuating cross pattern in the camera. This is so rapid, you have to slow it down to see it properly. Perhaps these strobing lights are characteristic of some kind of more conventional aircraft?

Also plainly visibly is the abrupt manner in which the light seems to go on and off, with it being obvious that the object is far too low to be moving behind a cloud. Once the light had "gone out" a final time, I waited for several minutes before returning to me car. And by then, it had started raining anyway!

Finally, the focus is good, although the part-digital zoom causes some distortion when very close. And I don't remember noticing the odd "looping" effect at the time. This appears all the way through the footage! I wonder if this could be down to motion-blur in the camera?

Any ideas from the stills? And does the Southampton sighting you mentioned have any similarities?

To date (21st November 2004) I am unable to explain this. Possibly the ‘ring’ is caused by camera movement? As for the object, well, at night, it is very difficult to identify any object unless it has flashing lights consistent with an aeroplane or a natural object such as a planet, meteorite etc etc. I am still investigating this and I will do until such time that I am unable to find a logical answer to the report.

SPANISH SIGHTING BY SUFOG MEMBER.

Wednesday 19th January 05

Gillian (a SUFOG member) and husband MALCOLM were over Spain at 2.30 p.m. on their way home after a Canary Island holiday when they were startled to see a
huge black object arrive from below., at 34,000 feet, and take up station alongside them. Their 'plane was flying at 540 mph. Two passengers behind them exclaimed at the same time "What is that?" Gillian and Malcolm described the object as a 'rectangle' which then changed to a 'tube' and veered away to the right and vanished. Malcolm has worked all his life with British Aerospace and this craft represented nothing he'd ever seen before. It has to be said the couple have a known history… some witnessed by me.. of paranormal encounters and at least two very close encounters with a "craft" over their home which is just a short distance from mine. All details have been passed to our founder and editor Steve G. who may be able to keep us up to date. I must admit I "jokingly" said to Gillian "they" were 'looking for you'! She'd already thought of that!

BY the way, the couple spoke to the stewardess about the incident and she said she just served the drinks and had seen nothing.

18th June 2005 : At approximately 00:50 hours on the morning of Saturday, June 18th 2005, I (Jonathan Bluestone) of the village of Fair Oak, Eastleigh, Hampshire, and two colleagues, who I am only permitted to describe as Dave and Annie were
standing outside of their home close to the village center of Fair Oak, and involved in sky watching while idly discussing the stars and the
activities and modus operandi of UFOs, when after mentioning to them three minutes earlier that "sometimes, if you ask to see an object ... they sometimes comply," such an object did in fact appear - or seemed to appear as if on request.

The object appeared in sky, almost overhead, but clearly several miles up. I'm estimating three or more as it is difficult to estimate as the sky was very dark and no point of reference other than the sky was available. It came in from the south-southwest, initially appearing as a brilliant and fast moving light source, I estimate as being about two milimeters in diameter as if judged by reaching out and pointing to it with my outstretched hand and finger (I am five feet, three inches tall for the record). It should be noted that we are familiar with astronomical, atmospheric and satelite activity here, and that particular night the sky was exceptionally clear and dotted with stars. Within a second or two of making its appearance, the object suddenly bloomed brilliantly into a white point of light five times the brilliance of the brightest star (and to an estimated size of around four milimeters) and then after approximately half a second (having apparently gotten our attention) it dulled down considerably but remained in motion, on the same course and at the same speed. At no time did it display any evidence of being an aircraft either in motion, speed or lights. It then seemed to dull out completely and stop and take up position in the sky close to Orion's second star in the Belt of Orion where it seems to have remained for the remainder of the fifteen minute observation of the witnesses. The incident was terminated when we went inside. In the actual event, if the object, if indeed it was a UFO, was in sight for a grand total of between three to seven seconds before becoming lost in the starfield overhead.

Both witnesses, who have a casual interest in the UFO phenomenon, but no serious technical background in it were wildly impressed by the sighting and announced to me that they had never seen an aircraft perform like that. They were also impressed by the fact that following the incident, we saw not only a passing satellite - clearly cutting across the heavens - and a meteorite entering the atmosphere and burning up. Both objects performed as you would expect, and did not reflect any aspect of the fast moving light source which we witnesses. This drove home the unearthly quality of the sighting to the "newbies" who were my additional witnesses. I was highly impressed, it was almost as if my comments about "asking to see something," were being acted upon, although this should be considered merely speculation.

22nd June 2005 : I live in an area called Locksheath, in Southern Hampshire post/zip code SO31 UK. At about 16.00 hours BST (half past four this afternoon) on Wednesday, 22 June 2005 I looked up because I heard the annoying sound of a light aeroplane that wasn’t very high, as usual in this area, but didn’t think too much of it but as I looked at it I could see that much much higher beyond it there was a round shiny ball/disc/object that looked just like a star or a balloon but it was far too high to have been a balloon or aeroplane because it was not moving. I went to my neighbour to get him to witness what I was seeing (as I have seen a few UFO’s in the past). He and I saw it but it was moving very very slowly. I took my digital camera with me and tried to get a couple of photos of it but I can’t see anything on them as it was just a tiny thing that looked just like a star at night. I came back to my house (2 houses up from him) to see if I could see it through my 700mm duel terrestrial/astronomical telescope which is always set up in my shed. However within the two minutes it took me to run the tow houses and into the shed where my telescope is (which was unlocked) it had gone.

Here it is very hot and sunny and it doesn’t get dark until around 10pm (22.00 hours) because the longest day was just 2 days ago?

I phoned my local BBC TV station to enquire if they had received any reports of such sightings, they hadn’t.
